Mary Moore Searight Park - Austin
Mary Moore Searight park is on the south side of Austin. It is a nice little neighborhood park that is also connected to the South Austin Trail Network, so not only is it a destination to go and ride, but it offers you the opportunity to access a huge range of trails. As a base for exploration the park is easily accessible and offers a variety of easier trails for the beginner with access to more challenging features as you move out, further away from the park.

Review - Bell Spark Helmet
The Bell Spark is the helmet that I finally settled on after several missed attempts. It took going into a physical store, something I did not want to do in these COVID times in order to find one that fit right and felt good on my weird-shaped head. The Spark was the least expensive of the three that I tried, but it still felt surprisingly good on my head and felt like a better overall compliment to my typical riding style (half XC trail riding and half urban.) If you are more adventurous or are more of a downhill rider you may want to go up a notch and go for the Sixer, more than I needed but still a decent helmet.

Review - Bell Sixer Helmet
I was under the impression that the more you spent on a helmet, the better that helmet would be. It seemed like a logical position and I really wanted it to be true. In the days of COVID, when buying online was the safest option, I figured that spending a little more and buying it online was the safest compromise. But what I found was that more expensive does not necessarily mean better, especially when it came to my needs.

Grelle Recreation Area - Spicewood
Grelle is a nice little gem out in the general Muleshoe / Pace Bend area. While not as long or as challenging as the others in the area, it is surprisingly remote and you probably won't see the typical crowds that you do in the other more popular areas. The trail is generally easy to ride, in most cases it is probably even a bit boring for expert riders, but if you have a friend, child or spouse that is just getting into the sport, this is a place for both of you to ride together. There aren't a lot of technical features but there were a few spots where I dismounted because I was literally the only one in the park and it was my first time there.
